Like many others I have been driving the roads of the Southwest for decades. One of the special things about America is the relative accessibility of remote places and the wide open spaces with unspoiled vistas. These vistas are now vanishing due to not only sprawl but the ubiquitous cell phone tower.
As of 2021 there were over 70,000 wind turbines in the U.S. with about 3,000 added every year. Each turbine uses at least 2,500 tons of concrete. Vast networks of new power lines are needed to move the electricity. The U.S. will need 583,000 turbines.
